The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red confirms that the two major expansions for the role-playing game will be vast in size and bring value for money, so players shouldn't worry about a bad investment.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was revealed to the world quite some time ago, and in the midst of delays and other details about the RPG, developer CD Projekt Red surprised quite a lot of people when it confirmed that not one but 16 free DLC packs would appear for the game.

These range from armor and outfits to weapons and even quests, and the studio made it clear that it wasn't going to charge money for things that can be offered for free.

Now, after having confirmed that not one but two major expansions would launch for The Witcher 3 and that they would bring 30+ hours of new adventures, CD Projekt Red Co-Founder Marcin Iwinski sheds more light on the subject.

The expansions for The Witcher 3 have lots of content

According to the official website, CD Projekt Red remembers the age of old add-on disks that brought significant expansions to PC games, and it wants to resurrect this practice for The Witcher 3. As such, its planned premium expansions will bring real value to fans from all around the world.

"We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back. We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there," he explains.

Iwinski also mentions that, whereas the Expansion Pass is already available for purchase, fans are free to do whatever they want. As such, if they want to wait for DLC reviews or even play the base game first before committing to the purchase of the add-ons, they can easily do so.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches in May for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The first add-on, Hearts of Stone, debuts in October, whereas the second one, Blood and Wine, is set to launch in the first quarter of 2016.
