The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the upcoming role-playing game from CD Projekt Red, will deliver a mature story that won't overwhelm players with details about the rich and vast world, as the studio learned from feedback after The Witcher 2.

The third installment in The Witcher series will see the conclusion to the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, and developer CD Projekt Red has already emphasized that more details about the game's world and its universe will be revealed by the upcoming title.

However, the studio has learned its lesson after The Witcher 2, unveiling that it will try to keep things simple, as new players got really confused and overwhelmed during the opening sequences of the previous title.

"We know in The Witcher 2 we were criticised for heavy exposition and the fact you get told about a lot of the background, a lot of the context and the lore at the same time, and it might be very overwhelming to players," the studio's writer, Jakub Szamalek, told PC Gamer.

"It might discourage them from delving into it because they might feel like they can’t catch up. So that’s something we try to change, and I think we succeeded in ensuring you have a smoother introduction to the world and its characters. There are very experienced writers on the team and they’re making sure what the newbies do makes sense."

What's more, the game's writer has also emphasized that the studio wants to deliver a personalized experience for mature players, not to follow convention plots and cliché events seen in previous games or other forms of entertainment.

"We want to create games for really mature players. These aren’t games for everyone... We have particular ambitions about what we want to achieve. The games that we make have a complex story you have to work a bit to fully grasp, and I think avoiding bad and good options is also a part of addressing and catering for this large audience, which demands the same treatment they’d get from movies or books."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will let Geralt loose in a rich open world and players can guide him alongside the main story path but also engage in many different side activities, including a better form of monster hunting, not to mention the actual exploration of the big environments in the RPG.

The new title will debut in February of 2015 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
