CD Projekt Red confirms that it's no longer adding any new content to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as it wants to use the time it has until its next release date of May in order to optimize its performance and eliminate any and all bugs spotted by its testers.

The Witcher 3 is one of the most anticipated games of 2015 but fans of the series have been looking forward to the title's release several times already, as it first got an early 2014 launch estimate, which was then pushed back to fall, and eventually reached February of next year.

A few weeks ago, the Polish studio once again decided to push back the release of the sprawling role-playing experience, as it needs extra time to ensure that it can delight fans. As such, right now, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to appear on May 19 next year.

The extra time will be put to good use

This leaves quite a lot of time for the studio to continue working on the game by adding new things and optimizing its performance. However, CD Projekt Red co-founder and CEO Marcin Iwinski confirms that the studio has already finished working on the game's actual content.

According to the executive, the missions and quests are locked in place and there will be no new features or elements added to the game until its launch next year.

CD Projekt Red wants to use the 5+ months left until the new release date to optimize the game's performance across its three intended platforms – PC, PS4, and Xbox One – while eliminating the final bugs that are still present in the game.

“We are removing the final bugs and still running optimization in various areas,” Iwinski tells Nerdacy. “What it will result in is a smoother and more engaging experience and, yes, the game looking better across all platforms. The content is locked, so no content changes are being made at this point. The scale of the open world in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is unprecedented, so fear not – there is enough gameplay to keep you playing for weeks.”

It's great to hear that CD Projekt Red is spending an adequate amount of time to optimize the upcoming RPG, as recent months have seen a variety of major titles launch with serious issues that have impacted the experience of loyal fans across all platforms.

You can expect to hear more about CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the following months, as we get closer to its release.
