14 DAY TRIAL // The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features a second playable character besides protagonist Geralt of Rivia, in the form of Ciri, and developer CD Projekt Red is confident that it will enhance the overall story while adding a new perspective to the whole experience.
The Witcher 3 was revealed to the world quite some time ago and CD Projekt Red, its developer, quickly confirmed that the story of the game concluded the adventures of franchise protagonist Geralt of Rivia, while going in depth with other characters from the series, such as Ciri or Yennefer.
Earlier this month, the team teased that there would be a second playable character in The Witcher 3, and after a few weeks, it announced that Ciri was going to be controlled by players during various sections of the game.
Ciri offers a new perspective
Since then, the Polish team has been silent on the matter, but now CEO Marcin Iwinski wants to emphasize the role Ciri plays in the story, as he’s explained to Nerdacy just how important the young woman will be in the plot of Wild Hunt.
"Ciri is this living weapon everyone wants to get a piece of. She has this inner power that is key to stopping the Wild Hunt, but she also has some of her own demons to handle, so she won’t allow to be controlled by anyone. We decided to introduce her as a playable character because it adds a lot to the narrative, and offers gamers a unique perspective on the story," he explains.
Geralt is still the main character
Even so, Iwinski also highlights that Geralt is still going to be main protagonist, as Ciri just serves to expand the story through her own point of view.
"Having said that, Geralt is the main character whom you will be playing most of the time and he is the guy. We think that the introduction of Ciri as a playable character is a great way to allow gamers to see parts of the story from her perspective and make it even more personal."
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to appear in May of next year for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. You can expect to hear much more about the RPG until then.
