The Witcher 2 might just be the best role playing game of this year and on September 29 the game is getting the 2.0 update, which is designed to iron out all the issues that the initial release had while adding a number of improvements, a new game mode and a tutorial.

Speaking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun as part of a bigger interview Adam Badowski, who is the development director at CD Projekt RED, answered a direct question about DLC by saying, “We don’t see the idea as wrong, but we definitely don’t like to see gamers treated like dairy cows that are primed for milking. All too often, DLC is seen as an additional revenue opportunity.”

He reiterated the position of his own company, which is that all DLC for the PC version of The Witcher 2 will remain free and that there are at the moment no clear plans to create a bigger expansion along the lines of what Baldur's Gate received in Tales of the Sword Coast.

On the Xbox 360 The Witcher 2 DLC will not be free but the developers are hoping for the price to be on the low end of the scale.

It also seems that in the first quarter of 2012 loyal fans should be expecting another big update, with a number of yet unannounced features.

Badowski also says that the team at CD Projekt RED is creating a more solid technology base with each new month, which might mean that the next game featuring Geralt might take far less than 4 hours to be created and launched.

But at the moment the full development efforts are aimed at making sure that The Witcher 2 patch 2.0 manages to redefine the game and draw new players in and at making the Xbox 360 version of the game the best that it can be.
