CD Projekt Red, the developer behind the recent The Witcher 2 role-playing game, has confirmed that it's already working on quite a few big projects, including a possible sequel to the game, not to mention a full-pledged expansion.

The Witcher 2 impressed legions of gamers earlier this year, when it came out on PC, and is set to receive a massive update later this week, called The Witcher 2 2.0, that adds a variety of new features, including an enhanced tutorial, an Arena challenge, and a more difficult Dark mode.

Besides this, the Polish studio is also working on the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2, set to appear in early 2012.

Speaking with Eurogamer, CD Projekt Red designer and writer, Jan Bartkowicz, hinted that lots of other things are also happening, including a new installment in The Witcher series.

"We still have at least one big title ahead of us in The Witcher franchise," he said. "All I can say is - outside of when the pre-production starts and finishes - with the story team we were probably in pre-production for The Witcher 3 during making The Witcher 2. Just because even while we were doing The Witcher 2 it was all about, you know, there's got to be probably something after."

Bartkowicz declined to actually confirm anything, but he said that Witcher fans should certainly look forward to new adventures for the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia.

"Of course we're not announcing anything," he added. "We cannot say, I cannot say - I don't know if it's going to be The Witcher 3 or something else that covers the story, but there's probably going to be some releases in the future. All I can say is we're planning on releasing something. [The Witcher 2.0 is] not the last update for The Witcher 2. That's what I can assure you."

The Witcher 2 update 2.0 is out on September 29, for the PC version of the game. All of its features will also be a part of the Xbox 360 edition, which is out early next year.
