The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, the superb action RPG developed by CD Projekt RED, could get a Linux version if the Steam Database doesn't lie about it.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is, simply put, one of the best RPG games ever made and it’s still probably also the best-looking of all. It’s the sequel to The Witcher, another immensely successful RPG from the same studio.

This might seem odd if not for the GOG.com announcement the other day when they said that the digital distribution platform would also feature more than 100 games for Linux, starting this fall. They also noted that they think of promoting some games that never got a Linux version until now and their own title might be one in a long list.

CD Projekt RED is also working on the third iteration of the game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is set for a release in 2015 and which ends the adventures of Geralt of Rivia.

The information about the Linux version is taken from the Steam database and by no means is it completely certain. The Steam Database is a record of data that describes every Steam game and subscription provided by Valve for the Steam service.

Usually, the new entries are first visible in the Steam Database before their official launch.
