Peter Mulholland announced yesterday, July 9, that the first Beta of the soon-to-be-released native port of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition game is available for download and testing from the Steam for Linux client.

The first Beta of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition brings support for more gamepads and fixes some issues in xpad, supports multi-monitor configurations, and improves the overall stability of the game, even though there still are issues with the Nvidia 331.38 graphics driver.

“We have just set up a beta on Steam, called ‘linux_public_beta.’ This is where we're going to be posting our betas of work-in-progress so far. [...] Note that this doesn't yet include any of our DX9 multithread rework, as that's still in progress.”

“We thought we'd put this out here so that we can get some feedback from you guys on what we have done so far, and also show that we really are working on making this port better,” Peter Mulholland said in the short announcement.

Hardcore Linux gamers will no doubt be able to play a native port of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition on their Linux-powered computers very soon.
