The less-featured version of HTC 8X, the Windows Phone 8S won't be coming to the United States, or at least not in the near future.

HTC confirmed for Engadget that for the time being it has no plans whatsoever to introduce the 8S in the US.

According to the company, the Windows Phone 8X will be the main smartphone offered by HTC in the country.

“The Windows Phone 8X by HTC is our signature Windows Phone available at AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless in the U.S. With our focus on the Windows Phone 8X by HTC, the Windows Phone 8S is not currently planned for distribution in the U.S. Market.”

Obviously, this doesn't mean the smartphone will never be carried by one or more US-based operators. However, now with HTC's official statement, the chance are very slim that this will happen within the next few weeks.
