One of the logos used to represent the various releases of the Windows operating system since its introduction could help a lucky user win some rather sweet free swag from Microsoft. The Redmond company is now at the fourth installment of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes, a milestone dubbed “What’s a Picture Worth?” the picture in question needs to be selected from no less than five logos users by the software giant throughout the past decades for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

“Round 4 of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes is now open! To win, leave a comment and let us know which logo you like best. You have until 6:00 am PT tomorrow (July 23) to enter. Remember to follow me, Brandon, Ben and the Windows Blog on Twitter find out more and hear about future rounds of the sweepstakes,” revealed Microsoft’s Ashley Brown.

Also remember that all comments must be posted on this Windows team blog entry “Windows Recession Sweepstakes #4: What’s a Picture Worth?” in order to get a chance to win. As was the case with the previous rounds of the Windows Recession Sweepstakes, Microsoft is offering to single winner a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate ($319.99); a copy of Office Home & Student ($149.99) and a 16 GB Zune HD Digital Media Player ($199.99). A rather sweet deal when you consider that in order to get a chance at winning users only have to leave a comment noting their favorite Windows logo.

“Logo design evolution plays a pivotal role in support of brand strategy, whether it’s signaling a change in direction, supporting a new promise, or merely taking a familiar mark and making it more modern, arresting and relevant. There’s always a balancing act between preserving visual equity and moving the design forward. In Windows, we’ve also had our share of new looks,” Brown added.
