Microsoft continues efforts to bring more developers on its new Windows 8 platform, and it turns out that its struggle is finally paying off, according to some new stats.

As TechCrunch reported, Microsoft confirmed at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona that the Windows Store was recording 4 million downloads every single day, which means that the company’s modern platform grew to 120 million hits per month.

Of course, if we go forward with our basic math work, we come across a 1.4 billion downloads yearly figure that’s pretty impressive for an operating system launched approximately 15 months ago.

According to figures provided by the same source, the Windows Store recorded a total of 43 million downloads in January, with free apps clearly leading the charts with nearly 42 million hits.

Figures have grown significantly in the last few years, with the existing stats pointing to a 134.6 percent boost in the overall download count since October.

Of course, Microsoft can only be pleased with these stats, especially because the company has promised to pay more attention to the quality of the apps listed for download, as it has already started to remove clones and spam listed for download.
