Many people thought that the Wild West and westerns were history, but we all know that does not matter at all when
it comes to computer and video games. The proof is Tenderfoot Games' title Wild West Online: Gunfighter, a game that manages to bring back to life the history-rich American Western world. Even more, players seem completely hyped by the project, since no less than 250,000 gunfights took place in the first month of beta testing.
In the free to play
MMO, gamers assume the role of a gunslinger in the 19th Century. However, it's not all about reflexes - even though they do matter a bit. Instead, Wild West Online: Gunfighter is basically a tactical game taking two to three minutes, where your ability to get inside your opponent's mind is the path to victory (at least, this is what the developers claim). Before testing your skills on human opponents, you can train with the computer's AI and the only thing needed in order to play the game is your web browser. If you want to download the game, you can give it a try

"We're gratified but not surprised that players have really gotten into Gunfighter," said Ariel Butler, Executive Producer for Tenderfoot Games. "The amazing thing is how fast word is spreading. We haven't even begun to build in the ties to social networking that will really spread this game to players around the world." Butler added: "The game is very easy to learn. Players quickly find there are multiple paths to victory, allowing extreme play flexibility. It's great mental exercise, because you must outthink your opponents to win. We've been playing this game throughout its development and even we keep discovering new, viable strategies!"
So, even though you will not get the chance to fight against a Butch Cassidy or somebody similar, Wild West Online: Gunfighter offers you a free introduction into the Wild Western world (or the www, as gamers could say, and we love them).
