Police officers pause a drug raid to play some Wii

In the state of Florida a drug bust deviates from the course and yet another case of police misconduct is reported. Police brutality, extortion or indecent proposals are not the plot of this story. After raiding the house of a 43-year-old man and finding drugs, weapons and stolen property, police officers continued the search for illegal items, which apparently led to the suspect's Wii, where they decided to play some Wii Bowling a little. The chances are slim that this had anything to do with the reason why they should have been there.

After bowling two strikes in a row, a sheriff's detective assigned to catalog the goods was overcome with the sweet taste of victory and began to celebrate her accomplishment, worthy of a mere Wii Sports rookie to put it mildly, with a modest victory dance. The entire scene, as well as the less exciting drug raid, was caught on a security camera inside the suspect’s home. There's nothing more beautiful than being a drug dealer and filming your own bust for the grand kids to see.

“Well, you can't explain that; my deputies know that they shouldn't have been playing Wii while they were involved in that search warrant." declared Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. As everyone might agree with the sheriff, there is no excuse for celebrating a mere two-strikes-in-a-row streak. The raid involved 16 detectives pulled from the sheriff's office and three area police departments, with a total cost of $4,000 on taxpayers. If this had turned into a tournament and not a solo-match, the cost of the operation could have been awarded as a victory prize.

“It's an embarrassment to the detectives involved, and it's an embarrassment to the organization," Judd said. "But you know what? We employ 1,800 people and not one of them is perfect. We all make mistakes. They made a mistake” Sheriff Judd further stated. If any police officer is prone to temptation, as part of the human nature, we should be happy that this detective decided to indulge herself with the suspect's Wii and not with any of the narcotics found at his house.
