Or maybe a track pack

The Beatles Rock Band has been a true success for Harmonix and MTV Games, managing to sell better than the rival Guitar Hero 5 from Neversoft and Activision during the month of September and generating about double the revenue. And it seems that the company might actually be interested in creating other full-length video games focusing on just one band. And recent statements suggest that a The Who title might be in the works.

Roger Daltrey, the lead singer of the band that produced the iconic Tommy, has told The Republican, a newspaper in Massachusetts, when asked about the recent The Beatles Rock Band, that, “The game, yeah, yeah, they're going to be doing a Who one next year. There is one planned.” It's not clear whether the rocker was talking about a track pack for Rock Band or, more intriguingly, about the possibility of actually creating a The Who Rock Band for a 2010 release.

Daltrey has also said that the whole idea of introducing older music to new players is very interesting, commenting that, “Anything that gets non-musical people interested in music is wonderful. In my opinion, music is our last true great freedom. They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can't stop us singing and making music.”

Of course, until Harmonix and MTV Games talk about it, no project is official. Earlier during the month, Brian May, the guitarist of the equally great Queen, said, when his band was announced as coming to LEGO Rock Band, that he would be interested in seeing a whole game dedicated to the work that Queen had done over the years. As important as Queen and The Who might be after The Beatles, Harmonix will probably set its sights on an even higher goal, that of creating a Led Zeppelin Rock Band just as the band talks about reuniting for a bigger tour.
