Scope

Watches have become such usual objects that finding one which can be included in the "gadgets" category is quite difficult. However, Scope, produced by...Scope, really fits the profile.

This device seems to be taken out of a SF movie, which is exactly what the manufacturers imply, as they've promoted it in a very special manner, presenting it as a device allegedly due to be sent via a time machine into the future, in a world ravaged by war, where it would have been used for tracking androids. However, currently, Scope's only function is to show time (or "establish the position in time", as its developers put it), and it does it brilliantly, in a very peculiar and innovative manner.

Thus, the vertical line indicates the hour and the horizontal one is for minutes. Minutes on the main screen are in groups of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 etc), to which one must then add the number of Red LED's shown on the right, in order to obtain the exact time. A second press of the button goes into date mode where the month & day are shown in the same manner.

Scope has an LCD display, and the device is available in two futuristic colors (Brushed Silver or Gun Metal). Moreover, it has relatively small dimensions (45mm x 33mm x 11mm), weighs just 150 grams and is available on www.tokyoflash.com for around 150 Euro.
