Last week we looked over the Warcraft movie that is currently in the making and the updates regarding its current state. Now, more details regarding it have come to light. With big director Sam Raimi and, according to the popular movie site IMDB, writer Chris Metzen involved in the project things seemed pretty good for the upcoming film. Metzen is responsible for the stories of the Warcraft II, Starcraft and Diablo and is involved in one way or another in most of Blizzard's games.

To add to these names, Warcraft: The Rise of the Lich King managed to get Robert Rodat as a character designer. If the name rings a bell, and it should, it’s because he was part of the crew that put together "The Patriot," which featured Mel Gibson and the best Joker of cinema history, Heath Ledger. Another movie that Rodat was involved in and you might remember is "Saving Private Ryan" and he is also currently working on an untitled Steven Spielberg television pilot. With such a competent crew, and this only so far, as other truly qualified people might also become involved in the project, this could turn out to be the game-inspired movie that will make history.

Even director Raimi seems glad to bring Rodat on board, and it almost sounds like the latter could have been his personal choice. "I've never made a video game movie, but my approach would be to work with the best character writer I can find, which in this case is Robert Rodat, and tell a great character story within the fantastic environment of the world of WarCraft, while staying true to their mythology," Raimi said.

The movie should be well rooted in the Warcraft universe since Raimi isn't afraid to dive into the world that the game put together. "We want to be really faithful to the game...to the Horde and the Alliance and the mythology that takes place in the game, and the archetypes that the game presents," said Raimi in an interview with MTV News. "I think we would try and find touchstones within the game to make it accurate and true and choose one or some of the lands that are portrayed in the game with as much accuracy and authenticity as possible.” Rodat will create an original story inside the universe that will keep both fans of Warcraft and those new to the story interested.
