“The Voice” proved to be a huge hit with audiences, even if it came on a market already saturated as far as singing competitions go. For season 2, producers have some major surprises for fans.

Producer Mark Burnett and the four judges / mentors on the show held a press junket on Friday to talk about what fans are to expect from the second season of the show, AceShowbiz informs.

Apparently, the first thing that will change has to do with the very reason for which “The Voice” proved such a hit: the blind auditions.

“In the first season, the blind auditions were featured in two episodes and Burnett said they received many complaints from viewers who thought that the first rounds ended so early,” the e-zine writes.

“He went on explaining that they will be able to give what fans want now that they have more time to produce them,” adds the same publication.

Burnett also dished more details on the upcoming season, which are bound to make things more interesting.

The number of aspiring singers a judge / mentor can take on his or her team will also change, going from 8 up to 12 for the second season.

Since people have already seen what “The Voice” is all about, contestants will be savvier, Christina Aguilera chimed in, noting how the tables had changed since the first time.

“Now, they're all like, 'What can you do for me?' They know how it works,” the diva told reporters about contestants' reaction to more than one judge choosing them.

Adam Levine agreed, saying, “All of a sudden, we're the ones pitching ourselves.”

On the topic of surprises, the team also revealed that the new season will kick off with the biggest surprise for fans yet.

It's a surprise so they can't talk about it yet, but here's a hint:

“Christina additionally promised that she and her fellow coaches will open the new season, which premieres on February 2012 after the Super Bowl, with a[n awesome] group performance, but she refused to give the details,” AceShowbiz writes.

All the more reason to tune in.
