Unfortunately, only for the South Koreans

South Korea is the home of some of the most important consumer electronics manufacturers, not to mention some of the most advanced portable devices you've ever seen. And that's exactly the case with the latest development from Yukyung Technologies, namely the Viliv X2 All-In-One, which provides just about anything one might expect from a portable device, including GPS navigation, DMB reception and even advanced multimedia playback capabilities.

Considering the fact that this thing provides several relatively separate functions, we'll tackle each of them separately. Thus, first of all, the X2 AIO provides GPS navigation functions, as it incorporates a SiRF Star III GPS receiver, as well as the necessary navigation software and navigation maps, which are displayed on the PMPs 4.3-inch TFT LCD with touchscreen capabilities.

The device also features a T-DMB receiver, capable of tapping into digital multimedia broadcasts (a portable TV service that's extremely popular in Korea) and provides certain advanced viewing options, as for example picture in picture (users can watch TV programs and navigate in the same time) and support for electronic programming guide (EPG). However, in order to be able to support all these features, the device required quite a lot of computing power and that's the reason why the manufacturers threw in a 600MHz AMD Alchemy CPU.

As mentioned earlier, the device also provides certain advanced multimedia playback functions, including here support for DivX, WMV, MPEG 1/2/4 and XviD files, MP3, WMA, OGG,PCM, WAV audio files, as well as photos (JPEG, BMP). Moreover, the PMP also comes packed with a large amount of internal memory, namely 30 or 60 giga HDDs, a 3D speaker, a Korean-to-English dictionary as well as an FM transmitter.

The new Viliv X2 AIO is available for now solely in Korea and retails for a hefty 584 US dollars (the 30 GB version) or 637 US dollars (the 60 GB version).
