Developer The Astronauts has announced that the upcoming horror adventure title The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will be released on September 25.

In addition to this, the former People Can Fly developers have also released a brand new gameplay video, showing a massive chunk of 13 minutes of in-game footage, complete with commentary, showing off their new games.

The upcoming first-person horror adventure puts players in the shoes of Paul Prospero, a detective who is searching for clues and answers, following the mysterious disappearance of a boy named Ethan Carter, by employing his preternatural abilities to talk with the dead.

The game is a blend of supernatural adventure and murder mystery, and considering it's coming from the guys who made Painkiller and Bulletstorm, it may just turn out to be the next big thing.

Furthermore, the game's new website is up, collecting everything there is to know about the game in one place in a neat fashion, and also providing links to the "special pre-order edition," which includes the game's full soundtrack and a making-of album in PDF format, alongside some wallpapers.

The game will be made available for PC through Steam and GOG starting September 25, and the devs are also looking at a PlayStation 4 release, sometime next year.
