Not long after Microsoft announced the hardware requirements a computer has to satisfy in order to be able to run Windows Vista, the bloggers' community came up with the prices for the long-awaited OS.

Before going into the nitty-gritty details, you have to keep in mind that this information is not official and that Microsoft hasn't confirmed it.

Bink.nu quotes msblog.org as saying that, if these figures are final, Windows Vista Home Premium will be twice as expensive as Windows XP Professional.

But let's leave the suspense aside and see some prices.

For the most elementary Vista edition, Home Basic, the price is 200 ? or $256. The next edition, Home Premium, is twice more expensive, with a price tag of 400 ? or $511. For Vista Ultimate Edition, the price is 500 ?, or $639, and Vista Business and Vista Enterprise will cost 650 and 800 ?, respectively.

Another thing that ought to be mentioned is that the above prices are for the retail packages, not the versions preinstalled on new computers.
