One of the big hassles of 3D printing, at the hobbyist levels at least, is having to build your own printer or at least assemble a kit, unless you're prepared to pay an arm and a leg for it, that is.

To some people, that's actually the fun part and for them, RepRap Discount is introducing two new full metal extruders.

The Hong Kong company  is offering the Bulldog Lite and the Bulldog XL extruders on Indiegogo.

The company was only asking for $3,000 (€2,230), but has gotten more than three times that already. For $114 (€85), backers get the Bulldog Lite extruder, suitable for 1.75 mm filament.

For $149 (€111), they also get the Merlin hotend and three nozzles, 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm in size.

The Bulldog XL extruder, which works with 1.75 mm and 3 mm filament, is $164 (€122) for Indiegogo backers. For $213 (€158), you get the XL along with a Merlin hotend and three nozzles as well as a Magma 0.4 mm hotend.

The prices include worldwide shipping, which is nice, and delivery is slated for December 2013, which is optimistic.

The extruders should work with most RepRaps and probably other DIY 3D printers and are compatible with several hotends and nozzles.
