Sony confirms that The Unfinished Swan, one of the most popular exclusive indie titles launched for the PS3 in recent years, is going to debut for the PS4 and PS Vita later this month, complete with cross-buy support, meaning existing PS3 owners get it for free.

The PS3 saw quite a few touching indie experiences appear in its later years and Sony already made it clear that it wants some of them to re-appear on the PS4. Already quite a few of them have made the journey across the generations, including Flow or Flower from Thatgamecompany, while others are rumored to be in the remastering process.

The Unfinished Swan is coming to the PS4 and PS Vita

Now, another great PS3 title, The Unfinished Swan, has just been confirmed for a debut on the PS4 as well as on the PS Vita.

The announcement arrives from Sony via the PS blog, as apparently Armature Studios handled the porting duties, instead of original developer Giant Sparrow.

The new title boasts some improvements, with the most important being the jump in native resolution to 1080p on the PS4. No other details were given in regards to gameplay improvements, so it's unclear just what else the new versions of the game boast.

"The Unfinished Swan puts you in the fairytale story of a young boy chasing after a swan who has wandered off into a surreal, unfinished kingdom. You begin in a completely white space and paint to splatter your surroundings, to reveal the world around you," Sony says.

"That, however, is just the beginning, and we wouldn’t dare spoil the rest. The Unfinished Swan will challenge your belief in confronting the unknown. It will spark your imagination, and keep you exploring to see what lies beyond the blank whitespace exposed before you. You may even encounter the eccentric King who built this realm."

The game supports cross buy

Besides appearing on the PS4 and PS Vita, The Unfinished Swan is also going cross-buy, meaning those who own the game on the PS3 will be able to download it for free on the two new platforms.

The actual title debuts on October 28, in North America, and on October 29, in Europe, on both devices and is priced at $14.99 / €12.99 / £9.99.

Until then, you can check out some screenshots of The Unfinished Swan on the PS4 in the gallery below. Expect to hear a bit more about it and its improvements early next week.
