DreamScene versions of the static backgrounds

The Ultimate Extras team is preparing something "extra" exclusively for the high-end edition of Windows Vista. In the first week of March, the Ultimate Extras team has made available for download a couple of wallpapers entitled Windows Ultimate Wallpaper Start and Strands at various resolutions designed to satisfy the needs of any desktop and based on two different visual concepts.

The wallpapers by themselves are free for all, no matter if you have Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows XP. In fact, you can access and download them right here.

This being said, it turns out that the Ultimate Extras team was not done with the wallpapers mentioned above. In fact, the backgrounds delivered for download are just a taste of what is still to come. The two wallpapers have already grown to the size of an immense success closing in on hundreds of thousands downloads. And this is simply a good exercise because they are just a preview.

"A few hundred thousand downloads later and after seeing the overwhelming feedback on the internets, I'm getting the sense that people liked our static backgrounds :). With that in mind I wanted to share a little something for those paying attention and in the process I can start the "Backstage Pass" section of this blog. Under this tag I plan on blogging about things that are happening behind the scenes. This way you can get a sense of what the team is working on," Alex Kipman said.

The video fragment embedded at the bottom was posted by Alex Kipman, the group manager for Windows Vista Ultimate, on Soapbox. Its title promises nothing short of content that will be delivered for DreamScene.

As you will be able to see from the video, the Ultimate Extras team has animated the Windows Ultimate Wallpaper Start. While the static version of the background can be downloaded by all users, the video wallpaper will only be accessible to Windows Ultimate users.
