Microsoft has debuted the search for the Ultimate Windows Media Center installation. And in this context the Redmond company issues a call to all custom installers, to participate in the first annual Windows Media Center Ultimate Install Contest. Essentially, if you failed to understand this by now, Microsoft is looking for the mother of digital home deployments built with Windows Media Center technology. The initiative is designed, in Microsoft's
perspective to cement the relationship with the CEDIA channel.

"This is a chance not only to show the amazing things custom installers can do with the Windows Media Center platform, but also to have some fun," said Scott Evans, group manager in the Entertainment and Devices eHome Division at Microsoft. "Our partners in the custom channel are taking our software and building incredible digital home solutions, so we decided now was a great time to give them the chance to showcase their best work and compete to be recognized as the ultimate MCE installer."

Windows Media Center-specific design challenge will attempt to centralize and showcase unique projects featuring Windows Media Center. With MCE an integer part of Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate editions and with in excess of 60 millions of Vista Media Center PCs in use worldwide, according to the company, Microsoft is now looking for innovative and distinctive custom electronics systems with its products at the core.

November 1, 2007 is the deadline offered by Microsoft for the completion of all entries and submissions. The Electronic House Expo Fall 2007 in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 7, 2007 will be the stage where Microsoft will announce the winner of the Windows Media Center design contest.

"We are looking for an installer who is able to create a seamless user experience using Windows Media Center devices," Evans said. "Creativity, originality and functionality will all impact the judges' decisions, but the installer's success integrating Windows Media Center into the heart of the home will reflect the 'Ultimate Install.'"
