So, Harry Potter is in danger of being killed in the final book of the best-selling series of J.K. Rowling. As saddening as this may result to many, it is nothing in comparison with what a Georgia mom would do to him if she had the chance.
Laura Mallory, a mother of four, filed a complaint against the book, asking for it to be banned from book stores and libraries, as it indoctrinates children and encourages them to become followers of witchcraft.
During a hearing with the Board of Education, the woman had the chance to share her view with the panel, strongly claiming that she sees no use for the book, as it does nothing else than present a negative perspective on life, while telling children that practicing the Wicca religion is alright.
The attorney for the Board answered back saying that, were they to ban every book that would touch on the religious topic, they would also have to pull out classics like 'Macbeth' and 'Cinderella' from libraries and book stares.
'There's a mountain of evidence for keeping "Harry Potter"', the lawyer said, adding that the concerned mother is letting her own opinion blind her. The series of books is, first and foremost, not concerned with indoctrinating little children but with presenting universal themes like friendship between children and 'overcoming adversity'.
