If you want access to Internet and your e-mail and also to your business applications, you need a permanent connection to the Internet. And you usually have to buy a GPRS or UTMS external card for maintaining the link with "the outside world". Here Fujitsu Siemens brings on the market a new laptop that incorporates the GPRS and UTMS technology, to be available on the market starting 2006.

Because of the built in UTMS technology, part of the 3G wave, the new laptop brings a
new level of performance and flexibility, eliminating the need of an external card. Also, this mobile solution simplifies the access to corporate applications and brings up to date information in any place you and your laptop are.

UTMS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) is a part of the third generation mobile technologies, known as 3G. UTMS uses W-CDMA as a base standard, also standardized by 3GPP and represents the European and Japanese answer to the ITU IMT-2000 radio cellular 3G systems. For a better understanding of UTMS apart from other mobile technologies, it is often presented as 3GSM, underlining the 3G nature of the technology and also the GSM standard that upgrades.

Fujitsu Siemens is one of the largest European IT producers and mobility is a key company strategy for developing a quality product portfolio. Fujitsu Siemens produces besides laptops, handheld devices (PDA and mobile phones) but also tablet PCs, both slate and convertible models.

"The new UMTS laptops once again demonstrate that we are the market leader when it comes to developing innovative mobility solutions," said Peter Esser, Executive Vice President of Fujitsu Siemens Computers. He continued: "As with all our mobile products and solutions, we have made these laptops secure and easy to use. They will offer efficiency and savings in time and money."
