The US Navy announces plans to recover bombs dropped on the Great Barrier Reef

Earlier this week, the news broke that US fighter jets had accidentally dropped four bombs on the Great Barrier Reef.

As reported at that time, the bombs were dropped during a training exercise that went terribly wrong. Luckily for Nemo and his friends, they were unarmed and did not explode when they hit the water. Recent news on the topic says that the US Nave is getting ready to retrieve them.

In a statement issued this July 26, the Navy explains that it is working closely with the Australian military and with marine park officials, and that it is doing everything in its power to make sure the recovery operation does not harm the environment in any way.

The Navy is yet to detail when and how the recovery operation will take place.

I don't know about you, but I sure hope they won't drop some other piece of equipment in the ocean while out looking for those bombs.
