The UK held its first-ever edition of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and it's interesting to see what the younger segment of the audience went for, seeing how they will have a lot to say on movie quality and choice of favorite actors in the near future. The star of the evening was without a doubt actress Emma Watson, who brings to life the clever, sometimes nagging but always brilliant witch Hermione Granger in the big screen adaptation of the Harry Potter saga.

The ceremony took place on Saturday at London's ExCel arena. Emma, however, faced strong competition from the likes of Cameron Diaz, Keira Knightley and Dakota Fanning, whom she eventually beat to the award. It was revealed that more than three million young viewers of the children's TV channel Nickelodeon cast their votes online and chose to give the award to Emma in the Best Movie Actress section. "This is so cool. I'm so thrilled", Watson commented.

Harry Potter also triumphed in a different section, as the last installment of the fantastic series written by JK Rowling, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" won the Best Book award. Johnny Depp was named Best Movie Actor for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End". However, "Pirates" was beaten to the title of Best Movie by "The Simpsons Movie', while 'The Simpsons' TV show was named Best Cartoon. The biggest shock of the night, however, came when 21-year-old US star Drake Bell beat Justin Timberlake and was named Best Male Singer.
