Dante's Inferno may be just a few days away from its official launch, but that doesn't mean that it's all out of secrets or that it has no surprises left for us. It looks like the game will feature a DLC that will become available on April 29, and while that was something to be expected of it, since DLCs are becoming a "must" for any title, the actual package contains quite a bit of surprises.
Entitled "Trials of St. Lucia," the DLC will add a multiplayer co-op feature to the game, with players being able to control either Dante or St. Lucia, but also a mission editor that will allow the community to come up with its very own new challenges for the title. After one has created a new level for Dante's Inferno, it will be added to an online ranking board that will grant them a certain amount of points, depending on what other players thought of their level design. The DLC would also feature new enemies, as the game editor's description revealed, one of them being "The Summoner."
The main character of the
DLC, St. Lucia of Syracuse, is a Christian martyr that lived around the third century. Supposedly, when she refused to marry the would-be-husband that was forced upon her, a non-Christian man, her eyes were plucked as a form of punishment. She's not a totally out-of-place character, since she does make an appearance in Dante's Divine Comedy, especially at the beginning of the Inferno, where she acts as a protector of Dante.
The
trailer that announces the DLC seems to be pretty legit, with Jonathan Knight, the executive producer of Dante's Inferno, present in the clip, as well as one Hans ten Cate, who is revealed to be the senior producer of the Trial of St. Lucia DLC. While the YouTube clip will most likely be taken down shortly, due to some copyright violation, in itself, it did only good for the upcoming game. While these lavish, new features were reveled for the upcoming game, even more players will likely purchase Dante's Inferno, as its content value has greatly increased.
