M-D13UR from Elecom: not really an Autobot, bot close

No, I'm not talking about one of the famous characters from the "Transformers" series (although that would have been quite interesting) but about some very real device developed by the highly innovative people from the Japanese company Elecom, namely the M-D13UR series of 2.4GHz wireless laser mobile mice.

Contrary to what you might expect, this mouse doesn't turn into a robot and starts shooting around. What it does, however, is turn from a flat-like device to a some sort of 3D one, by rotating its battery compartment. What's the main purpose of this action? Not really sure about the answer to this particular question, but the most obvious one is that it offers a better grip on the device, being also better ergonomically designed. Moreover, the device has a special storage space for its USB dongle, so all the user has to do is pull it out of the enclosure, stick it in the system's USB port and the mouse is good to go.

Another very interesting fact about this special mouse is that the scroll wheel has been replaced by a nifty little touchpad that prevents the device from getting all clogged with dust. Here are some of the most important features and specs the transformer mouse from Elecom has to offer:

- Dimensions: 55 x 84.9 x 29.0 mm; - Weight: 58 grams (including the 3 grams receiver); - Features a "command button" on the side; - Optical sensor, 800 DPI resolution; - Works on the 2.4 GHz frequency; - Works with 2 batteries.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
