AOL has released its list

The last of the big-time search engines has come clean with what its users searched for on the Internet. It's not like they were holding it back or anything, but Yahoo, Google and Ask.com have done that a week or more ago, I almost thought they weren't going to do it after all, especially because they said nothing on the topic.

If you recall, Britney was Yahoo's top search and the iPhone was Google's. What do you think people searched for the most with AOL? The weather! Now that says a lot about them, doesn't it? It's either AOL links to the best weather anywhere on the globe, or its users are the "obsessed it's going to rain" type, but who am I to judge, I can't tell a rain cloud from a black sheep and, as a result, I am always caught without an umbrella at hand. I always buy one, I have about a dozen at home and I would like to take this opportunity to start a sale on them.

The most searched for news was the untimely death of WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, confirming the hunch I had that people want to see other's misery just to feel better about themselves. Want to read something funny? I mentioned earlier the top searches for both Yahoo and Google. Now, guess what the top searches for gadgets and Celebrities were for AOL. Did you manage to get it right? The iPhone and Britney was the correct answer, well done there!

Other categories that were mentioned were the Top TV Shows, where for the second year in a row the "American Idol" won the honors, the Top Politicians that saw Hilary Clinton leave her competitors eat her dust and the Top Accidental Celebrities, with Kim Kardashian leading the ballot.

?and that's a wrap for this year. No more top searches for about 12 months from now on. That's a relief.
