Q-Games, the developer of the upcoming strange and interesting-looking PS4 title The Tomorrow Children, revealed the first in-game footage from the title, enabling gamers all around the world to get a better idea of what the thing is all about.

The gameplay footage debuted during an Extra Life livestream on Raptr's Twitch channel last Friday, showing a healthy 40-minute-long chunk of The Tomorrow Children, showing the actual game in action for the first time.

The footage comes with helpful commentary from Q-Games President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert, who you can watch navigating the map, mining for valuable ore, crafting items at the work bench and, probably the most exciting of all, fighting deadly kaiju, monstrous beasts that threaten the settlement.

A quirky but interesting design

The game is set in a distant future, following the remnants of mankind after a failed experiment in 1960s Russia decimated the human race.

The Tomorrow Children is basically an open-world sandbox game similar in some ways to Minecraft, complete with some multiplayer interactions meant to encourage the feeling that you are working together with other gamers to build things and secure mankind's survival against any threat.

Players will be able to gather precious materials they will then use in order to improve and expand their settlement and craft better tools, even dabbling in some farming and other such interactions with the ever-changing, living environment.

A truly unique setting

The most striking feature of Q-Games' title is, by far, the unique visual veneer, very similar to 1960s Russian children books and shows aesthetic, with a distinct claymation vibe that will be instantly recognizable to those who got the chance to enjoy such artifacts or are familiar with 1960s fashion.

The visual theme is mirrored in the gameplay design, with The Tomorrow Children borrowing heavily from the collaborative building and social economics of the Soviet Union, in the attempt to create a uniquely themed post-apocalyptic dystopia like no other.

As such, everything you do within the game world has to be sanctioned by the state, and your actions can then be recorded at the labor office, awarding you a sum of money you can spend on various perks and tools.

The game's alpha test is set to take place between October 30 and November 12, so we're surely going to see a lot more footage surface during that interval, offering us a better look at The Tomorrow Children.

For the time being, the PlayStation 4 exclusive video game has no prospective release date other than sometime during 2015.
