As we stepped into 2015, gaming device specialist Razer saw fit to put its popular Blade laptop for gamers through a makeover session.

The machine is being touted as the thinnest and lightest 14-inch option for gaming. But apart from being extremely sleek, the Blade is also equipped with specifications that will certainly make your mouth water.

Judging by what we can see on the outside, the new Razer looks very much like the model the company launched in 2014, the one coming with a QHD+ display and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M GPU.

New Razer Blade gets improvements in several sections

Well, the new model has been enhanced with more powerful graphics, a fastest processor on the inside and has been given the 16GB of RAM treatment (last year’s model maxed out at 8GB).

But don’t go holding your breath on this one, the new laptop doesn't have a fifth-generation Intel Core Broadwell chip on the inside. That’s because we’re still a few months away from seeing this platform make its way into consumer-ready products.

The Core M chips introduced by Intel in January are designed to go into low-power tablets and 2-in-1 hybrids.

So instead of Broadwell, the laptop utilizes a quad-core Intel Core i7-4720HQ (Haswell) processor clocked at 2.6GHz fitted with 16GB of DDR3. The new GPU onboard sustaining gaming activities is now an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M.

As for the display, the Blade comes with a LED backlit 14-inch IGZO QHD+ display with 3,200 x 1,800 pixel resolution. It’s also multi-touch capable.

The laptop also comes equipped with 512GB of solid state storage drive, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4a plus an anti-ghosting keyboard with adjustable backlight.

The new Razer Blade remains impressively portable

We also mentioned the Razer Blade is very sleek, so it is time we proved that with numbers. The lappy measurements show it as being 13.6 inch / 345 mm in width 0.70 inch / 17.8 mm in height and 9.3 inch / 235 mm in depth. It also breaks the scale at 4.47 lbs / 2.02 kg.

The new model is currently available for order and can be yours for the hefty sum of $2,199 / €1,921 a pop.

A cheaper model with a 1080p non-touch display is also available for purchase.
