Microsoft prepares its websites for the October 26 release

Microsoft will be quite busy in late October, as the company will unveil not only the new Windows 8, but also the Surface tablet that will run the refreshed operating system.

It seems that the Redmond-based technology giant will also bring the new device to users on the Old Continent, as Surface references have also been published on the company’s European websites.

Microsoft hasn’t said anything about a potential European launch for the Surface, but this is a clear sign that the company is willing to launch the tablet there as well.

The new pages will probably host information about the Surface, along with pricing for every country.

WPCentral writes that similar references can be seen on the Italian, French, German and UK Microsoft websites, so these four countries will most likely get the tablet by year-end.

On the other hand, Microsoft does an excellent job when it comes to keeping Surface specs and pricing details away from our eyes and ears, so everybody’s still waiting for the big October 26 release.

Steve Ballmer however hinted in an interview in early September that the company’s new device may cost between $300 / €230 and $800 / €620, pointing out that such a price could help it fight against Apple’s iPad.

In order to attract more customers, Microsoft will also offer a free copy of Microsoft Office 2013 to all Windows RT buyers (the Windows 8 versions that will be installed on tablets).

However, since Office 2013 isn’t yet released, the company will initially ship the tablets with an Office preview, while afterwards it will deliver the full product via Windows update.
