There is little secret at this point in time that Microsoft is gearing up for the availability of Windows Server 2008. The Redmond company's last 32-bit server operating system is scheduled for its launch event Heroes Happen Here on February 27, 2008, in Los Angeles. And Windows Server 2008 will not go to customers alone. Microsoft will accompany the server platform with SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008. However, despite of the release event being under just four weeks away, the company has failed to reveal the RTM date of the product.
Independent reports have already indicated that Microsoft will release
Windows Server 2008 to manufacturing as early
as the first week of February, but no later than the official availability date. Justin Graham, Account Technology Specialist at Microsoft, has revealed that the company is now in the Super Bowl. And if the development process of Windows Server 2008 was the entire championship, the Super Bowl, being the championship game, is also the last stage before the final Windows Server 2008 touchdown (so to speak).
"My name is
Justin Graham. My sole lot in life is to make sure IT Professionals have what they need to get a head start on
Windows Server 2008. I have no other purpose really, my team is not in the Super Bowl, I work 5.4*10^12 hours per week, and I eat ramen still. The good part of this is I'm developing some exciting things for the IT Pro Community for the Launch," Graham stated, indicating a few resources for the community.
"First,
HeroesCommunityLaunch. Visit this website, perhaps multiple times a day, to find the latest information on localized training events held in your area. This is our effort to bring the content to YOU. If there is no local launch event in your area listed on
HeroesHappenHere, then find one here," Graham explained.
Microsoft has also debuted a series of webcasts staring on January 21st, 2008. Graham pointed to the
new resources made available as a way to become familiar with the key aspects and technologies in
Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio.
