According to investigations conducted by the police, at least two of the suicide bombers who attacked the Amman hotels were talking with Iraqi accents, AP informed.
According to the press agency, the police are currently investigating the theory of a double explosion, one triggered by a package strapped to the attacker's body and the other by a ball bearing package, in the wedding hall where 300 persons were celebrating.
A police official said that The Days Inn attacker had
an argument with the hotel staff prior to detonating the 10 kilogram explosive charge, which was most likely trinitrotoluene (TNT).
The terrorist had ordered an orange juice, but was asked to leave because that area was for families only, not for single men.
"The man became angry and started mumbling words in an Iraqi accent that the waiter believed were insults before leaving the hotel", an official said.
According to the hotel personnel, the men kneeled to the ground and reached for something in his pocket, most likely one of the detonator's wires, which finally detonated, blowing his body apart and killing three members of a Chinese military.
The claim of responsibility text published online by al Qaeda, whose authenticity couldn't be verified, seems to confirm the authorities' suspicions.
The text said that the group, formed exclusively by Iraqis, was in charge of the planning and execution of the attacks and that it was composed of three men: commanders Abu Khabib, Abu Muaz and Abu Umaira. The fourth kamikaze was a woman, the 'venerable' Um Umaira.
If it is confirmed that Abu and Um Umaira were husband and wife, they will be known in history as the first married couple to commit a suicide attack.
