An Austin, Texas firm claiming to sell the best locks for Apple computers acknowledges in a recent announcement that “Apple forged the world's hottest new gadget but forgot to give us a way to protect it!” While some will disagree that it was Apple’s job to include a bicycle chain with their purchase, here’s what Mac Locks has on offer for $64.95.

The company believes “the iPad is a remarkable tablet computer that lets you swipe your way to a more mobile lifestyle. But it's also extremely vulnerable to theft.”

With tens of millions of computers stolen around the world each year, while Apple is expected to sell just as many iPads by the end of 2012, Mac Locks believes it is imperative that Apple customers fasten their tablets now.

“Mac Locks has solved this problem with the iPad Lock: the first and only iPad cable lock,” the company states.

It explains that iPad Lock allows you to retain “all of your mobility,” yet seeing the image above, we would beg to differ.

“…you can lock and unlock it in seconds, taking it with you wherever you go,” Mac Locks claims.

Admittedly, the solution should do wonders for retailers, which is why the product has a suggested retail price ranging from $39.95 to $79.95, and comes in three variations:

1) Stand-alone case:  custom security case for iPad 2) Security bundle:  custom security case for iPad + universal security cable lock 3) Resale pack:  25 or 100 units of the stand-alone case or security bundle

For individual use, the solution is meant to be employed as described below:

“…you can lock the security cable to the case, and loop the cable's other end around a fixed object (like a table). Once the case and cable are locked together, thieves can't detach the case without damaging the iPad.”

Mac Locks trusts that the strong steel cable will discourage any thief.

The company even claims that, thanks to the small size and weight of the iPad Lock, the solution is “stylish.”

Also, for a limited time, each unit comes with a free scratch-resistant screen protector which normally costs $25, according to Mac Locks.
