The Story Behind Google's Valentine's Day Doodle

By now, Google's Valentine's Day doodle is making the rounds around the world and has touched millions of people, or at least given something fun and interesting to look at and forget what they wanted to search for in the first place.

The animation is rather interesting and a special project at Google. While Google does have a team of in-house doodlers, it does appeal to other artists on occasions. This was one of them, the entire animation was done, in rather record time, by Michael Lipman, which you may know from things like Happy Tree Friends. He also plays the role of Nutty in the animated series.

The doodle team already had a storyboard and some sketches, but the entire animation was done by Lipman, in three weeks rather than the regular nine to ten weeks that a piece of this length would take.
