The Spice Girls may be all reformed and well on their way to reclaiming their top spot in the heart of their fans across the world, but there is one thing the four of them will most likely never forgive and forget: Geri Halliwell quitting the band right in the middle of the group's "Spiceworld Tour" in 1998 in order to pursue a solo career in 1998. In a desperate bid to make amends, Geri has promised to make it up to the girls on their reunion tour, which kicks off on December 2nd, in Vancouver, Canada. "I'm sorry. I'm making amends this time. I made sure we got America in the tour schedule".
However, Geri seems to have taken her desire to make amends to extremes, and has recently sparked concerns for her health after slimming down to just 98lbs. The Spice Girl - who has previously battled the eating disorder bulimia - has been on an extreme exercise and diet regime in a bid to get in shape for the band's upcoming world tour. Friends of the singer are now worried she has gone too far after she shocked onlookers with her super-slim figure when the Spice Girls performed at the recent Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
"The main talking point was how skinny Geri had become. Victoria Beckham is always criticized about her weight, but she actually looked curvy compared to Geri. With Geri's history of eating disorders, any major weight loss is worrying", a source told Britain's Star magazine. "Up until now, she appeared to be embracing her curves and was happy to keep them, but she seems to be slipping back into her old habit of working out and dieting to extremes. We're sure she feels under pressure to look good standing next to the likes of Victoria, but she seems to be taking it too far".
Since giving birth to her daughter Bluebell 18 months ago, Geri has made a conscious effect to regain her size ten figure. However, since the band announced they were reforming in June she has put pressure on herself to become the slimmest Spice Girl. Her regime reportedly includes running ten miles a week, training with weights, not eating after 6pm and soaking in an ice bath in a bid to tone up. Now, that can't be good - extremes never were. But as long as Geri feels she's got something to prove to the other girls, I have a feeling she won't stop. Can anyone please ask them to tell her she's forgiven? It might actually save her life.
