It was a couple of days ago that the world was told: The Spice Girls are coming back! Not for good, just for a "Greatest Hits" album. Why only for such a short time? Well, because they can't stand one another.
Yes, it's true. The differences that existed before and drove them to the break up point still exist today, and worse still, they are acting up in full force. Melanie Brown (aka Mel B) was the first to screw up. Although her music career died along with the Spice Girls seven years ago, she acts as if she is the cream of the music business. It is reported that she simply adores showing up late at group events.
First she was 90 minutes late for the first band meeting and the next day she arrived 2 hours after the beginning of an interview. And when she was on the premises, she kept on showing off, which was something that Mel C could not handle. Turns out that just before their first press conference was about to begin, she said that she refused to stay next to Mel B.
The second fuse was lit by Geri Halliwell, who still has that desire to always stand out in the crowd. Basically that's why she left the group in the first place, because she believed that she was destined to make it on her own. After her (predictable) failure, she is back with the Spice Girls, but so is her attitude. One example stands out in particular. When the girls were supposed to attend the first photo session, they were instructed to walk out as a five piece group. When the car door opened, Geri immediately ran out by herself to greet the fans, while the rest of the girls watched in disapproval. Guess some things never change.
Geri also messed up really bad when she saw Mel B's daughter Angel and commented that she looks a lot like her dad. Since Eddie Murphy constantly refused to recognize that he is the father of little Angel, this caused a bitter Mel B to strike back at the comedian. So you can imagine why Geri's remark caused the girls to freeze in panic, fearing that Mel B would go for Ginger's jugular.
Victoria Beckham was upset after the press conference because the reporters weren't paying her enough attention. The only one who did not seem to mind about anything was Baby Spice Emma Bunton. However, the other girls felt that Emma was not supporting them.
The situation has gotten to such a level that the producers of the Spice Girls reunion are reportedly scared by the prospect of one of the girls pulling out of the project before the world tour actually begins. Therefore, they are keeping the girls separated and are bringing them together only for the essential events.
