Some people have a hard time quitting smoking (other people just don't want to) and others forget that long exposures to sunlight can be hazardous for their skin.

Fiona Carswell, graduate of the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University and a User Interface Engineer for Apple, Inc, has come with two garments that will partially solve some of these problems.

The first is the Smoking Jacket, which has a built-in pair of lungs on the front. As the wearer smokes, the lungs fill up with the exhaled cigarette smoke and begin to gradually darken over time. I have to admit that it looks pretty cool, but I don't think it will actually convince people to quit smoking. A better idea would be to use some sensors that trigger an electric shock. This will surely make smokers throw their cigarettes away, but I doubt the jacket will have a long life.

Medgadget asked Fiona some questions about the Smoking Jacket. Here's an excerpt from the interview: "When wearing the jacket, the smoker exhales cigarette smoke into a one-way air valve in the collar, trapping it in. The smoke is then channelled through some tubing to a pair of plastic lungs on the front of the jacket. Inside the lungs is air-filter material which darkens to a brownish stain after repeated exposure to smoke".

Now here's something that's even more repulsive: the malignant mole bikini. They look normal when not in direct sunlight, but when the wearer is exposed to UV rays, dark moles begin to appear in various places on the bikini. This is a little bit too extreme. Imagine a young girl at the beach going to talk with some random boy (it's customary these days). She begins flirting and before you can say "Let's have a beer", her suit gets filled with moles. Now that's a turn off.
