VoIP (voice over internet protocol) telephony has really boomed during the past few years, becoming one of the favorite means of communication of all Internauts, and not only. And that's the reason why more and more gadgets aimed at the people, making VoIP calls via their computers being developed, including things ranging from weird USB phones to keyboards, fitted with a phone receiver. And VN-CX1, the new Skype compatible mouse-phone developed by Sony, is a perfect example of this trend.
Thus, besides functioning as a mouse, VN-CX1, or the "mouseophone",
as we might call it, can be opened exactly in the same manner as a clamshell mobile phone and used as a receiver for VoIP calls. More precisely, as a phone with a loud speaker, because the device has an echo cancellation function to reduce the echo at a peculiar telephone call. The LED light flashes plus a ring tone when someone is calling.
VN-CX1 has 2 buttons and a central wheel, is USB 1.1 and 2.0 compatible, and is available in 5 colors (Red / Blue / Black / Silver / Green). Moreover, it is quite light (just 67g), measures 45.5 x 23.9 x 89.2 mm, and comes with a 110 cm cable.

Thus, VN-CX1 is quite a practical device, which combines two of the most important functions desired by any Skype user, and even if the length of the cable doesn't really offer too much mobility (a wireless product would have been more interesting, but who knows, maybe Sony will launch such a product as well), it still represents a very interesting alternative to the classical headphones and microphone.
