Sure, Macs are a bit behind when it comes to the most popular games out there, but that doesn't mean they lack them completely. Highly anticipated titles such as Neverwinter Nights 2 and Will Wright's Spore (due out this year for both Mac and iPhone) have somehow made their way onto the Macs and now the platform is blessed once again with the release of The Sims Castaway Stories.

"Aspyr Media, Inc. announced today that The Sims Castaway Stories for Mac, the third release in the product line The Sims Stories, has begun shipping to retail stores throughout North America. The Sims Castaway Stories, licensed by Electronic Arts, was developed for Mac by Aspyr Studios," says a recent post on the developer's web site.

As the image above reveals, your sims are now stranded on a tropical island. They will need player guidance to make a new life in this unexplored paradise in this easy-to-play, laptop-friendly version of The Sims. As you can see in the second image (left), female sims already know their way with Leopard!

Gamers can play the life simulation game in two ways: Story mode (fulfill goals as you explore the island, build a shelter, learn to find food, and make your Sims' lives as fun and comfortable as possible, unlocking rewards along the way as you achieve set goals), and the open-ended Free play mode (create your Sims and determine how they'll evolve in an environment where "anything-or anyone-can wash up on the beach"). The Sims Castaway Stories also offers shortcuts and a new auto-pause option that lets laptop users start and stop when opening/closing their laptop.

The Sims Castaway Stories is available now for $29.99, via Aspyr's web site. Fans can check out gameplay videos on the official game web site.
