The development team at Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that they are currently delivering the first of three major content updates for The Sims 4, which is designed to introduce a range of new elements to the title, all of them offered for free to those who picked the game up.

The biggest addition to the video game are ghosts, which allow a dead character to become part of the game again, with all the attributes they had during their life and with a range of new potential behaviors that are based on the circumstances of their death.

Maxis says that some ghosts might actually be brought back to life and that they can be playable characters for those who are looking for a new set of challenges.

The official announcement adds, "Did you feel that disturbance in The Force? It was probably our new Star Wars Costume Set. Outfit your Sims in Luke Skywalker’s X-wing pilot suit, Leia’s white robes and awesome cinnamon buns, Darth Vader’s suit and, yes, even Yoda. I mean, who out there hasn’t dressed as Yoda for Halloween, right? Now you can in The Sims 4, too!"

New eye colors are now offered for all the Sims included in the game, and the developers are also saying that some smaller bugs with the game have been eliminated via the new patch.

The Sims 4 will soon get pools and more careers

Maxis also says that it plans to introduce pools to The Sims 4 during the month of November, responding to pressure from the player community, and that a range of new career paths and rewards will be introduced in December.

More details about the new features will be offered in the coming weeks and gamers can continue to offer feedback so that the studio can include more content and tweaks to core gameplay features.

The company adds, "We’re also exploring new features and some expansion packs for further down the line, and we’re always listening to your feedback to help us decide what to build. We’ve said from the beginning that The Sims 4 is all about endless play possibilities, and we hope each of these updates add fun new dimensions to your experience."

The Sims 4 was largely well received on launch and introduces more dynamic characters and a range of new ways to interact with them, with emotions playing a bigger than ever role in their simulated lives.
