Maxis and Electronic Arts have detailed some of the features included in the upcoming The Sims 4 experience, confirming that players will be met with deep customization mechanics for their own sims, as well as with an easy online interaction system that can be set depending on their own preferences.

The Sims 4 is the next iteration in Maxis' long-running life simulation experience and, so far, the studio has showcased plenty of impressive mechanics that aim to overhaul or completely replace existing systems seen in the current The Sims 3 and all of its many expansions.

In the midst of a few controversies about a few features that won't be present in the new title, Maxis has offered details about the things that are going to be a part of The Sims 4.

The studio has emphasized on its website just how much control players will have over their sims, their emotions, and even their appearance, through the new Create a Sim system.

"Just like in previous Sims games, you’ll have the ability to select different levels of autonomy for your Sims so you get the level of control you’re most comfortable with. And rest assured, we’re doing an absolutely massive amount of tuning to make sure emotion gameplay enhances the experience for you storytellers and machinima artists, rather than creating a new obstacle," the studio said.

"We’re particularly proud of our new Genetics system, where you can create relatives from any other Sim. It’s like a game in itself! As for ages, we have babies, children, teens, young adults, adults and elders."

What's more, the studio has once again emphasized that online interaction can be quite easy, although players, in the end, can decide how much they want to interact with others and what objects they can download from the online gallery.

"When it comes to connecting with other players online – The Sims 4 is the game you want it to be. You can browse other players’ creations or share your own directly from the game to the all new Gallery, or you can turn it off with a click of a button."

"While we’d love for you to check out what the world of The Sims community has to offer (you make amazing things!), making the game that you want to play and giving you control is our priority."

After the SimCity debacle, which required constant Internet access to work, it's great to see that Maxis is offering options to those who can't maintain the mandatory connection.

The Sims 4 is set to debut this September for the PC and you can expect to hear much more about the game until then.
