Electronic Arts is announcing that the first of what will indisputably be many expansion packs for The Sims 3 is set to arrive on November 16, 2009 bearing the rather uninspiring name World Adventures. The game is in development at the moment and it will be outed for both the PC and Mac platforms, although the release dates might not be the same.

Scott Evans, who is the general manager of The Sims at Electronic Arts, stated that “Players will be able to take their Sims on the adventure of a lifetime and explore lands outside of Sunset Valley and Riverview, pursue thrilling new life destinies in locations around the world inspired by famous destinations, and immerse themselves in the open-ended gameplay where they’ll discover new cities in China, France and Egypt and share new stories.”

EA promises that the expansion will introduce new environments that the Sims can explore and a variety of new activities that they can do. In Shang Simla, China, they can learn martial arts, enjoy a romantic getaway in Champs Les Sims, France and explore the ancient relics that dot Al Simhara, Egypt. Apparently, the locations will offer more than new backgrounds.

There will be treasures to uncover, the possibility of developing a new array of skills, of meeting some unique developer-created Sims that have outrageous personalities and create personalized content detailing their adventures that can then be shared with other players. The idea is to take Sims out of their familiar surrounding in the two initial Middle America towns and put them in some exotic locations with fresh choices.

Those players who pick up the World Adventures expansion will also get 1,000 SimPoints, which can be used in the store of the game to pick up new objects, some of them being set to be only available for those who pick up the expansion.
