The development team at Electronic Arts announces that The Sims 3 will get access to new summer-themed content during June, with the Island Paradise expansion, which will add exploration options, new houseboats and more.

The Sims 3 will have islands that players can travel to and settle on, creating new properties geared for vacation time.

Gamers will also be able to create their own resorts and then run them, changing offers, fine-tuning prices and gaining popularity.

New skills include snorkeling and scuba diving, both offering a chance to pick up under sea treasures.

Island Paradise also adds stilted foundations so that players can mix water and land-based buildings and there are boats to buy and use, ranging from houses with keels to fast vehicles.

The Island Paradise expansion requires the base Sims 3 package.
