Video game publisher Electronic Arts, through its new Play label, has announced that it is planning to launch a new expansion for The Sims 3, called Generations, which aims to give players a chance to act out, in quick succession, the most important moments in the lives of simulated characters.

The new expansion is apparently set to arrive exclusively on the PC at some point during the spring and the original Sims game needs to be installed for Generations to work.

The main new concept in the content pack is a new memory system, which allows each sim to experience his entire existence, from childhood to the moment in time he has reached in his life.

The world of childhood will feature things like three houses, space rockets, games of princes and princesses, tantrums, misbehavior and forced dance and piano classes.

Players will then be able to move on to the teen period, with more added drama, complex pranks, the social pressure of high school and notorious moments like the homecoming dance.

There are also a lot more memorable moments planned for the early adulthood period and players will be able to capture and keep everything by using a new system of in-game cameras.

Everything can be recorded and then uploaded either to the official Sims 3 website or directly to Facebook, while at the same time browsing the content uploaded by friends.

Scott Evans, who is the general manager of The Sims Studio inside Electronic Arts, has stated, “The Sims 3 Generations includes new gameplay experiences and content that our community has been requesting for years including bunk beds, expansive weddings, midlife crises and more.”

He added, “Imagine booby trapping a friend’s toilet or turning your imaginary friend into a real person, throwing bachelor or bachelorette parties, all to spend your elder Sims years reminiscing about the past.”
