Life simulators are some of the most popular types of video games out there, largely due to Electronic Arts' The Sims franchise, which was the brainchild of legendary game creator Will Wright and was developed by his own studio, EA Maxis.
The Sims 2 went on to become one of the most popular PC titles of all time, managing to sell huge amounts of copies both in its initial release and in the many expansions and add-ons that were launched after that point.
In order to further capitalize on the success of the franchise, EA Maxis decided to release the title on other platforms, like the Nintendo DS or Game Boy Advance. Set to use the features of the hugely popular Nintendo DS to the fullest, like the touch-screen or the WiFi connection, the DS edition of The Sims 2 was launched on October 24, 2005.
“The Sims 2 for the Nintendo DS has returned closer to the roots of the popular PC title. For starters, the world is fully rendered 3D. In addition, the game is a truly open-ended Sims experience which focuses on customizable gameplay rather than a linear, story-based mission structure. The Sims 2 for Nintendo DS also features a bevy of touch-screen based activities scattered throughout the game that enable users to completely customize their world and gameplay experience,” the official announcement from Electronic Arts reads.
Besides the use of the touch-screen, the title can also boast multi-cartridge multiplayer support, as well as using the memory card in order to store saved games. Overall, for those who want to satisfy their Sims hunger but can't really spend a lot of time in the living room at the computer, the Nintendo DS version is great.
HINTSEasy money– Build the Sax Lounge in the Arty place and play music. You do not have to do anything, just lead your Sim to the keyboard. You can keep your Nintendo DS on a charger and allow it to idle while playing.
– When vacuuming, if you see something you think is valuable, tap it with your stylus and drag it to the hole at the bottom of the screen, in the middle. If it is worth something, you will get money.
