Last summer the media mentioned that the famous animated TV show was finally greenlit by 20th Century Fox.
But it seems like The Simpsons fans will have to wait a little bit longer.
The TV series producer David Mirkin fas recemlty revealed in an interview that the movie may be further off that previously thought.
"We don't have a (release) date. It's all about the quality - the writing - which we're working on now. We are very quality conscious, and we don't want the series to suffer because of the movie," Mirkin said.
"We're looking at various tests to get the right look. We're taking it into the realm of cinema but not too far from how it looks on the show.", he added.
The Simpsons animated series released in 1989 pictures a very politically incorrect family. Homer (Dan Castellaneta) works with pride in a nuclear power plant run with more regard for profit that safety. His wife, Marge (Julie Kavner) tries to be a kind of supermom. The couple has three kids: Bart (Nancy Cartwright) is an underachiever ("and proud of it"), Lisa (Yeardley Smith) is as serious and responsible as Bart isn't), and Maggie, is just the little one.
The adventures of this ultimate nuclear family, based on a series of small cartoon sketches from the Tracy Ullman show, are now in the seventeenth season.
